Learn collage techniques inspired by Surrealist Art and create your own surreal collage. The surrealists used the irrational juxtaposition of images to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind. In this workshop, you will be invited to create a collage that portrays your chosen hero in a surreal scene which emphasises their attributes and illustrates what makes them heroic.

Please collect together images of one of your heroes, and magazines, newspapers and print outs with images of backgrounds you’d like to use (e.g. landscapes, domestic interiors) and objects which you associate with your hero’s attributes or life story.

Eleanor works in collage and ink on paper, and has recently been experimenting with postcard sized work as well as larger scale, due to the challenges of working from the kitchen table during lockdown!

Eleanor is interested in the stories and atmosphere of places. Working with other artists and communities is highly important to her practice.
