Since November 2019, Durham University students in ICAN (the Inter-College Arts Network) have been participating in the Brooklyn Art Library’s sketchbook project. Inspired by an exhibition of north east artist Norman Cornish’s sketchbooks at Durham University’s Palace Green Library, the students have completed the sketchbook collaboratively, capturing their own unique observations on life, both before and during lockdown life. Their sketchbook will shortly be making its way back to Brooklyn, USA, to be digitised and become part of the BAL collection this summer.
ABOUT ICAN (Inter College Arts Network) is a student-led art group, bringing together Durham University’s College Art Societies to help network and promote events and ongoing ideas, find out more here.
